[public] - Conference: Individual freedom: the different conceptions of liberty and their relations to environmental issues

Augustin FRAGNIERE (University of Lausanne, CH)

After graduating in 2002 from the Arts faculty of the University of Lausanne, Augustin Fragnière has worked for several years as a professional mountain guide and as a freelance journalist. He has joined again the University of Lausanne for a second degree focusing on the social aspects of environmental issues. Researching first the social and ethical aspects of carbon offsetting, his current PhD thesis explores the relationship between the concepts of freedom and ecology, asking whether environmental problems – and responses that could be designed to face them – do pose a new threat to individual freedom.
